Minister Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy
He was born in 1968 in Athens. He studied Biochemical Engineering at the University of Wales and holds two master degrees, from the University of London and City University Business School, specialising in Biochemical Engineering and Business Administration accordingly. He worked at the transnational European Agency for Eurocontrol which oversees air traffic and flight safety across Europe. Upon his return in Greece, he ran a family business. He speaks English and French. He is a member of the Alumni Association of Biochemical Engineering University of London and the City University Business School. He is married to Cypriot businesswoman Aphrodite Doritis.

In the elections of 2004, he was for the first time elected in Lasithi electoral district as a Member of Parliament with New Democracy Party. He was re-elected in the 2007, 2009, May and June 2012 elections, the January and September 2015 elections, as well as in the July 2019 elections.

He was Deputy Minister of National Defense (2007-2009) and Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security and Welfare (2014-2015). From the 23rd of November 2015 until the 10th of January 2016 he assumed the duties of President of New Democracy Party.

In 9 July 2019, he was appointed Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy.

Founded SwissMarine in 2001 and ran the company as its Managing Director until June 2018. Prior to that Mr Weernink held various positions in Cargill International latterly responsible for Cape & Panamax trading activities. Mr Weernink is a Dutch National and studied Industrial Engineering at TU Eindhoven. He holds board seats at a number of companies outside of shipping in the Netherlands and Switzerland.

With extensive experience in the tanker industry, his involvement in shipping industry regulatory matters spans more than 25 years. He sits on multiple boards and committees including the Panama Canal Advisory Board, the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Lloyd’s Register Technical Committee, the Euromed Marseille Ecole de Management School Steering Committee, and the Maritime Industry Foundation.

Throughout his career, Philip Embiricos has focused on improving the environmental footprint of global shipping, has written several books, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Durham as well as a Master’s degree in Shipping Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Connie is the Chairwoman of the Rotterdam Maritime Services Community and partner at C&B More since 2012. C&B More is a tax advising firm specialised in the maritime industry and international tax planning.

After graduating from Tilburg University in Fiscal Economics, Connie started with EY and has been working for EY for 15 years, the last three years as a tax partner in Rotterdam.

In the last 20 years she has published several articles in scientific fiscal magazines, mainly on the Dutch tonnage tax regime.

Connie is the Chairwoman of Rotterdam Maritime Services Community, a member of the Rotterdam Maritime Board (consulting the Mayor and Aldermen) and member of the Executive Committee as Treasurer of WISTA International (Women in Shipping and Trading Association).

a boutique financial consulting firm specialising in the shipping sector, advising
lenders and borrowers on ship finance matters.
Prior to launching SFS, he was a Managing Director & the Head of Greek Shipping at Citibank while before that, he had worked for National Bank of Greece, assuming various positions, including Manager of Shipping Division, General Manager of NBG London and Advisor to the Executive Chairman.
Dimitri holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from ‘Metsovio Polytechnio’, Athens, an MBA from HEC, Paris, and a MALD from Fletcher School, Tufts University, Boston.
