Captain Wolfram Guntermann graduated with his Masters License at the Marine Polytechnic Elfleth/Germany in combination with a scholarship at the Plymouth Polytechnic of Marine Science. He also received his Engineers License at the Hamburg Polytechnic in order to serve as Ship Operation Officer holding a dual license.

After having set his feet for the first time on deck a vessel in 1979 he went through the ranks receiving his first command as Master in 1996. He also took various assignments ashore as Trio Tonnage Center London and Director Marine Operations in the Hapag-Lloyd America Office in Piscataway/New Jersey for almost nine years. Upon repatriation to the Hamburg based Headquarters he worked as Director Projects ( Passenger Vessel MV Europa 2 ).

With the current function as Director Regulatory Affairs a lot of challenging opportunities are emerging in light of new environmental legislation and initiatives.

Dr Elias Boletis is currently Director Propellers and Transmission at Wartsila Propulsion. He has a Doctorate from the University of Brussels and M.Sc. degrees from the Technical University of Athens, Greece and the von Karman Institute of Fluid Dynamics. He is thirty-five years in the Industry at various positions, especially on product development and introduction of new technologies. In the last years, he gives emphasis on systems integration and implementation of energy saving technologies in marine applications. He is member of Imarest, ASME, SNAME and he participates in several CIMAC activities.

Regina Asariotis

Chief, Policy and Legislation Section TLB, Division on Technology and Logistics, UNCTAD

Regina Asariotis is Chief of the Policy and Legislation Section in the Division on Technology and Logistics of UNCTAD, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, where she is responsible for the Secretariat’s mandated work in the field of transport law and policy, including research and analysis, technical cooperation and intergovernmental policy dialogue and negotiations. Substantive areas of work cover a broad range, including international trade and transport law, maritime security, marine environmental law and policy, as well as the implications of climate change for transportation (see https://unctad.org/ttl/legal and https://unctad.org/topic/transport-and-trade-logistics/climate-change-and-maritime-transport).

Before joining UNCTAD in 2001, Regina Asariotis was a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Southampton, and member of the Governing Board of the University's Institute of Maritime Law (IML), where she taught international maritime and trade law for more than 10 years, including as part of the IML’s programme for practitioners in the field of transport and trade. She holds a law degree from the University of Augsburg, an LL.M from the University of Southampton and a Dr. jur. from the University of Hamburg and is a practising Barrister (England & Wales) and Attorney at Law (Greece), as well as Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

Regina Asariotis has authored and co-authored numerous publications in the field of international maritime and trade law and was a specialist editor of the Journal of International Maritime Law until 2017. She is a visiting professor at the University of Geneva and the University of the Basque country and continues to be involved in the design and delivery of courses for professionals, including on behalf of the Swiss Trading and Shipping Association.

Natalia Gorina

Natalia is an expert in carbon credits and renewable energy with over 15 years of experience in environmental commodity markets and consulting. She currently leads South Pole's offering to clients in the aviation and shipping industries. Previously at South Pole she worked with clients in the technology, sports and media sectors. She also led the development of renewable energy offerings of South Pole and represented South Pole within the ICROA industry association. During her career, Natalia worked at RWE Trading and Essent Trading and was responsible for closing structured carbon credits transactions in Kyoto Protocol and voluntary markets. At ICF International she provided strategic consulting services on emission trading schemes and carbon credits. Natalia graduated in Economics from Bocconi University(Milan) and holds an MSc in Environmental Management from Oxford University.

Valeria started her professional career in Port of Cagliari in 2002 and first was a lawyer in legal office in Milan. She involved in the cruise industry in 2004. She holds a degree in law from the Catholic University of Milan Italy. she became a lawyer in 1992 in the Court of Appeal of Milan. She attended a master in common law at London school of economic London. UK.
She was a vice president of MEDCRUISE, the Association of the Mediterranean Cruise ports between 2005 and 2008; she was in a board of MEDCRUISE like a director of environment from 2008- 2011. From 2013 she has a delegate for environment from MEDCRUISE. From October 2017 she is the Director sustainability/ environmental issue of the Board of MEDCRUISE .From October 2020 she is senior Vice president of MEDCRUISE.
She is a member of the board of the Bank of Italy.
She collaborated with The Maritime Economist (MEMag). It’s a scientific magazine by IAME (International Association Maritime Economist), that is the owner and publisher see http://www.mar-economists.org/MEMag/index.htm). She wrote an article entitled "European Environmental Laws: Some Considerations for Mediterranean Cruise Ports published on The Maritime Economist"
She attended in many international environmental conferences as a speaker and in particular in the last Green Port events as delegated of Medcruise for these years : 2014-2015-2016-2017-2018.
She has attended in many environmental meetings of Espo.
From November 2018 she represent Assoporti and Medcruise in the environmental committee of ESPO.
From February 2019 is nominated from the Director of Directorate – General for Mobility and Transport European Commission a member of the commission’s expert group ports called “Sub group of Sustainable ports”
She was speaker (7-8 June 2017) (12-13 June 2019) at the event “European Environmental ports Conference 2017” , “European Environmental ports Conference 2019” in Antwerp Belgium.
0n 21 may 2019 she held a lecture at the University of Antwerp -Maritime Academy on cruise’s market environmental legal aspect of European Directives.
On 6 December 2019 she was speaker at the 20th CWC Annual World LNG Summit & Awards Evening.
On 16 February 2020 she was a speaker at the Small Scale LNg summit in Milan.
On 26 June 2020 she was a moderator at the BS group live webinar ”Mediterranean shipping summit”
On October 2020 she is Senior Vice President of Medcruise.
Valeria is in charge of the Port Network Authority of the Sardinian sea she is marketing manager she is responsible for leading the marketing activities of the Sardinian Ports while giving support to the expansion of Port Network Authority of the Sardinian Sea.
From the 2013 she is a member of the board of the Bank of Italy.

Jakob Steffensen

Jakob Steffensen plays a leading role in the Danish shipping companies’ effort to decarbonize. In addition to the daily work as DFDS innovation lead, he chairs the Danish Shipping Innovation Committee and Green Ship of the Future. He is very active within the Danish Climate Partnerships, the national efforts to achieve 70% CO2 reductions by 2030 via cross sector integrations and knowledge sharing. Jakob is also a member of Danish Shipping Climate Advisory Board and the European Sustainable Shipping Forum.

Lucienne Damm is a political scientist and working in the sustainable and environmental field for over 13 years. For over 9 years now, she is working as Senior Environmental Manager at TUI Cruises, a German premium cruise line operator. Among others, she is responsible for the company’s environmental strategy & supporting projects, environmental management systems (ISO 140001) and reporting processes. She is involved in TUI Cruises new build projects, always looking for sustainability innovations.

Since 2015, Lucienne is Vice Chairwoman of Futouris e.V. and member of the Sustainability Committee of DRV (German Travel Association).

Her former positions included a Research position at the Research Centre for Environmental Policy in Berlin and a position as Policy Officer for Transport at NABU e.V. in Berlin, one of Germany’s largest nature and biodiversity conservation NGO.

Dr Elizabeth Lindstad is Chief Scientist in SINTEF Ocean, Norway. She holds a MSc in Industrial Economics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology and a PhD in Naval Architecture from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She has long experience in developing and managing research and development projects with focus on sustainable shipping solutions, new innovative vessel designs and supply chains. She has been co-author, of EU & IMO policy studies. Member of ESSF the European Sustainable Shipping Forum, consisting of representatives from the European shipping sector and national representatives since it was established in 2013.

Gavin Allwright

Secretary International Windship Association (IWSA)

Gavin Allwright is the Secretary General of the International Windship Association (IWSA). Established in 2014, this member driven not-for-profit is working to promote and facilitate the uptake of wind propulsion solutions in commercial shipping. Alongside his work as association secretary, he also leads the policy work stream, requiring regular attendance at IMO, EU and national government level meetings and sits on the stakeholders advisory committee for the MTCC network at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

Gavin is also a non-executive board member for the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA), a work package leader on the EU Interreg Wind Assist Ship Propulsion (WASP) and advisor on various shipping decarbonisation projects. He is also a regular guest lecturer at the UN World Maritime University (WMU) and holds a Masters degree in Sustainable Development, specialising in small scale sustainable shipping and logistics in developing countries and was an expert reviewer for the IPCC special report on 1.5C climate change.

Dallas Smith is the Vice President of LNG and Offshore for the Liberian Registry. He is also the General Manager of the Liberian Registry’s Houston’s office. Dallas leads the service delivery and brand management of the Registry within the LNG sector (to include newbuildings of LNG-as-fuel powered ships and LNG carriers), and Offshore sectors globally. In addition, he manages the Houston office by providing oversight of the Registry’s interface with regulatory, commercial, operational, and compliance of all vessel platforms.
Dallas joined the Liberian Registry after 20 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. During his final 6 years in the Coast Guard, he ran the Coast Guard’s Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise. Where he was responsible for executing the USCG’s entire liquefied gas safety, security, and environmental compliance mission around the world. He holds an M.B.A. with honors from Liberty University, B.S. degrees with honors in Technology Management and Organizational Leadership from University of Houston, and an A.A.S. in Electronic Engineering from Thomas Edison State College.
