Medical Director for the COEMIG at Del Sol Medical Center



Dr. Nutis is from the El Paso-Ciudad Juarez area. He graduated medical school from the University of Juarez School of Medicine. He was awarded valedictorian, finishing at the top of his class in 1998. Dr. Nutis then completed his Family Medicine residency at Texas Tech El Paso in 2003, and is board-certified in Family Medicine. He decided to pursue a career in women’s health, and completed a second residency in Obstetrics-Gynecology at Texas Tech El Paso in 2006, for which he is board-certified.

Dr. Nutis furthered his training by completing a fellowship in Laparoscopic Gynecologic Surgery through the AAGL at Stanford University in 2007, where he was taught by the pioneer and top international gynecologic surgeon, Dr. Camran Nezhat. Dr. Nutis is the Medical Director for the First Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology in Texas, created in 2011.

With an abiding interest in the academic side of medicine, Dr. Nutis has also co-authored three text-books, several articles, abstracts, and editorials. His research interests include understanding infertility and its relation to endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. He has published several videos about surgical procedures for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Nutis continues to be on the cutting-edge of Ob-Gyn, as board-certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology), as well as maintaining an active presence in the academic university community of El Paso and internationally in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Dr. Nutis maintains an active role in the international community by teaching Ob-Gyn residents from the University of Juarez School of Medicine, and presenting frequently at conferences in Mexico.
