About This Webinar

A talk by Jim Eckart. The fastest way to lose a good case, or worse, end up in legal trouble yourself, is to overlook the constitutional rights of the people you regulate. In this session, Jim Eckart returns to cover the constitutional principles every code enforcement officer needs to know, including search and seizure, due process, and the limits of your authority in the field. Jim has trained police officers, prosecutors, city attorneys, and code enforcement professionals across California on these exact issues, and he brings that experience to a practical discussion of common mistakes, how to avoid them, and what to do when a situation starts heading toward litigation. You will leave with a clearer picture of your legal boundaries and the confidence to do your job effectively while protecting yourself and your agency from liability.
