In this interactive session hosted by Comcate, Kolten Keeney, Senior Vice President and Partner at Comcate, will walk through what it takes to build a legally defensible case from day one. The class starts with the foundational five W's of case building, then digs into best practices for photographic and video evidence, including establishing perspective, framing shots correctly, avoiding hearsay, and respecting expectations of privacy. You will also learn communication and de-escalation techniques to turn hostile or anti-government encounters into collaborative, educational conversations, along with escalation tactics for the cases that will not resolve, including repeat offense ordinances, administrative abatements, stays of fines, and court orders. The session wraps up with building multi-agency partnerships across police, fire, social services, and neighboring cities, plus a look at how modern case management technology streamlines history tracking, field documentation, and court report generation. You will leave with a complete playbook for documenting, managing, and escalating violations the right way.
