About This Webinar

A talk by Amanda Pope. What do you do when a property owner refuses to comply, citations pile up with no results, and the property has become an imminent threat to life safety? In this session, attorney Amanda Pope of Jones-Mayer Law breaks down the Health & Safety Code receivership, one of the most powerful tools available when all other enforcement mechanisms have failed. Amanda explains what a receivership actually is, the legal requirements a city must meet before a court will appoint a receiver, and how the process moves from petition to rehabilitation of the property. Just as important, this class covers the officer's role in making the case, because thorough inspections, detailed documentation, and a well-built enforcement history are what convince a judge that receivership is justified. You will learn what evidence matters most, how to document conditions the right way from day one, and how your fieldwork lays the foundation for resolving the most dangerous and stubborn properties in your community.
