The Pleasures and Perils of Writing Historical Fiction (CWCO 2021 session 5)

About This Webinar

Historical people and events can be great sources for story ideas but bringing such stories to life is often challenging. In this presentation, author and writing teacher Carmela Martino will discuss the process she went through researching and writing Playing by Heart, an award-winning novel inspired by the lives of two extraordinary 18th-century sisters who lived in Milan, Italy—one a mathematician, the other a composer. Martino will also share some common pitfalls when writing historical fiction and how to avoid them. Presenter: Carmela Martino
