About this workshop

Collaborative mitigation, adaptation and resilience planning is required to “future-proof” the water sector against the many significant challenges and risks over the coming decades. This Webinar Workshop Series will examine vulnerabilities that must be addressed by collaborative planning on a local, regional, national and global scale pertaining to black swan events and overall water sector security. Applying a scenario planning approach, we will ‘red team’ the plausibility and solution space.

Meet The Presenters

Benjamin Morgan

Crisis Communication

For over 15 years, Benjamin served a variety of Alberta communities an Advanced Life Support Paramedic. During his time with the City of Calgary Emergency Medical Services, Benjamin held the role of Public Education Officer.
After completing his Masters Degree of Professional Communications, Benjamin returned to the City of Calgary as the Supervisor, Crisis Communications. He played critical communication leadership roles during Canada’s costliest natural disasters: 2013 Calgary Flood & 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires.
Benjamin was called as an expert communication witness at the Elliott Lake mall collapse public inquiry hearing, participated in a DRDC research project: Expert Round Table of Social Media in Emergency Management, and has traveled across the country sharing his experiences with municipalities, schools, and organizations.
Benjamin teaches Issues Management, Risk, and Crisis Communications at Mount Royal University in Calgary, and in Victoria BC at Royal Roads University
Rob Pitcher

Manager, Critical Infrastructure Cyber Partnerships, Public Safety Canada

Mr. Robert Pitcher is currently the manager of the Critical Infrastructure Cyber Partnerships unit at Public Safety Canada. His current responsibilities include international engagement, Industrial Control Systems security programs, cyber security simulations and exercises, insider risk awareness, and general engagement on issues related to cyber security concerning Canada’s critical infrastructure. Working within the operational, policy, and strategic levels, he has over 20 years of IT and security experience that is divided between the private and public sector.
