    Eric Foner
    Eric Foner is one of the nation’s foremost historians and the author of many award-winning books on the Civil War and Reconstruction, including 2010’s “The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery,” winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the Bancroft Prize and the Lincoln Prize. His books have focused on the intersections of intellectual, political and social history, and the history of American race relations. Foner is the DeWitt Clinton Professor Emeritus of History at Columbia University. His new book is “The Second Founding: How the Civil War and Reconstruction Remade the Constitution” (Norton).
