Over the past ten years, NGS technology revolutionized the microbiome studies. With the increasing amount of data, we explored the sequencing data searching for markers using different methods and approaches. After this learning and data production period, it is time to build predictive models that can be used for diagnosis, prognostics, and to guide therapies. To reach the translational product, we need to use appropriate methods to ensure reproducible results, identify robust markers, and recognize external factors. Here we present new methods, approaches, and insights in this process of converting big data into therapies or orientation to the patients.
