Our education and professional career tracks rarely prepare us for crises. We train to grow, expand, and achieve loftier goals every year. When plans are changed on the daily and problems grow larger than we can individually understand and tackle, our emotions play an undeniable role in decision making, leadership, and well-being. In this webinar, we explore how to examine, in a non-judgmental manner, our own emotional responses to incomprehensible crises, and then formulate a plan to effectively manage those emotions for the best course of action.
After spending part of her career in advertising and the digital world, Pam gravitated towards coffee for its ability to present a platform for business and society to interact. In 2012, she founded Bettr Barista and has led the company to become the first Certified B Corporation in Singapore. Pam is the first Singaporean on the Board of Directors of the global Specialty Coffee Association, and is a passionate problem-solver. Hence was born the Bettr Holistic Training Programme developed around coffee to train and empower communities at risk. She founded Bettr Lives in 2020 with the mission to empower individuals, organisations and communities with the skills, tools and methodologies to build mental and emotional health and resilience and realise their potential, so as to create and live a more purposeful and sustainable life.
He is passionate about the interplay between businesses objectives and societal impact, mentoring dozens of entrepreneurs as an iAdvisor with International Enterprise Singapore and Executive Advisor to NUS Enterprise’s Social Venturing Programme.
He has served on the boards of Biofourmis, Conjunct Consulting, Rotary Club, and the World Toilet Organisation, and is also an Adult Educator at the National Council of Social Services’ Social Service Institute, as well as Associate Lecturer in Strategy and Organization with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
To Nichol, being female in a traditionally male-dominated business is an advantage. And being a relatively young head honcho of a 80-year-old business has enabled her to run this “old” business like a start-up but essentially with a lot more heart, soul, character, and experience. She aspires to innovate and lead the way in the wholesale trade industry and to constantly re-invented her company and business, which she sees as a pivotal player in the ecosystem.
As a continuation of her active social engagement, Nichol established The Food Bank Singapore in 2012 and is the current President of ONE (Singapore), a charity whose mission is to Make Poverty History by raising awareness about poverty issues in Singapore.
