This workshop will provide you with a basic understanding of the Chinese culture and key considerations when working with this population as a registered dietitian.

You will become more familiar with key ingredients and can suggest culturally appropriate food options and behavioral changes for your clients to reach their goals.

What you will learn...

-Learn about the Chinese culture, way of eating and traditional foods and what that looks like in Canada and North America
-Learn key ingredients, similarities and differences to the Western culture.
-Join us for a hands-on food demo to cook with and taste some common Chinese ingredients
-Learn the key considerations when working with the Chinese population in nutrition counselling (ie. seniors, diabetes, heart health, picky eating, eating disorders etc)

    Amy is the founder of Libra Nutrition and is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin as many of her clients are Chinese. She has had weekly segments featuring gourmet/healthy foods on Omni TV for two years, and has a regular column in the national Chinese newspaper, Ming Pao for the past four years. She is one of the authors of Dietitians at Home. Her favorite Chinese foods include dim sum, congee, and dumplings.
