Janet is the broker owner of Janet McAfee Real Estate, a luxury residential brokerage founded by her mother in the seventies. Janet began her real estate career in 1996, after working in consumer products marketing for Ralston Purina. Prior to that, she lived in Boston and worked as a transportation planner for two administrations in the Secretary of Transportation’s Executive Office..
Janet is passionate about real estate. "I love training and I love helping agents through tough situations. I think that's something that sets us apart. Our entire staff is so approachable and engaged in helping all the agents perform to their maximum potential."
Janet is active in cultural and civic organizations. She is past President and lifetime honorary board member of The Women’s Safe House, a shelter for battered women and their children in the city of St. Louis. Her current board affiliations include MICDS Board of Trustees, St. Louis Art Museum Friends Board, International Mentoring Advisory Board, and the Garden Club of St. Louis. She is a trustee for her neighborhood, active in her church ministries, past board member of the Clayton Community Foundation, the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, the Federal Reserve Industry Council and Clayton Academy. She is the recipient of The Women’s Safe House Legacy Award and the Massachusetts Governor’s Citation.
A native St. Louisan, Janet earned her MBA from Washington University and AB in Urban Studies from Mount Holyoke College. She and her husband Tom have two grown sons, Murphy and James.
