In this virtual Meet-Up, Joanne Schwartz, the County Clerk in Burlington County (NJ) will speak about the duties and responsibilities of the County Clerk position. Generally responsible for maintaining records of all governing body transactions including resolutions and ordinances, County Clerks are often responsible for keeping records of deeds and marriage licenses and most other public records.

Schwartz will address frequently asked questions about the impact of COVID-19 on the upcoming July 7, 2020 primary election in New Jersey. In addition, she will talk about the Homeless Trust Fund that provides funding for the implementation of the locally developed Plans to End Homelessness.

Burlington County Clerk
Joanne Schwartz was elected Burlington County Clerk (NJ) and has proudly served in that office since January 1, 2019. A former Burlington County Freeholder and Democratic Committee member for Southampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. She is a retired health care administrator and consultant experienced in compliance, turnarounds, and transitions. With experience spanning all aspects of the health care continuum—hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and independent housing—Schwartz is a former Probation Officer and taught courses in Sociology and Criminal Justice as an adjunct faculty member at Burlington County College and Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). A former Fire Commissioner of the Mt. Laurel Fire Department, she is a life member and former President of the Mt. Laurel and Hampton Lakes Emergency Squads, and has served as an Emergency Medical Technician for almost 20 years.
