Van Sowerwine and Isobel Knowles on Emotion and Immersion

About This Webinar

How can we create deep emotional connections through immersive technologies?

Artists Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerwine work with stop-motion animation, immersive installation and VR to create digital and physical experiences, facilitating a constant reciprocal exchange between the hand-made and new technologies. Their conceptual development and production techniques are technically complex and artistically rigorous – honed over twenty years of practice. In this presentation, they explore the heart of their practice to reveal their motives and rationale behind the creation of these works.

Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerwine are artists who create technologically adventurous, elaborately detailed immersive installations and films. Their work investigates narratives of belonging and metamorphosis, and has engaged audiences both physically and emotionally around the world including at Ars Electronica, Linz, ICA, London, Seoul New Media Biennale, Art Gallery of NSW, QAG GOMA, MONA and in competition at Venice, Cannes and Sundance International Film Festivals.
