What kid of measures do you use, if any, to make sure the students are completing what they are suppose to outside of the classroom?

When I flip, they fill out a handout of notes and then do a short survey on Google forms. We use the survey as a springboard the next day for further exploration. If they don't do it, then they are lost. It only takes a time or two of being lost for them to realize how important the videos are.
